\nAyodele Ganiu’s research covering the continent, argues that for artists to function effectively, artistic freedom is a precondition. The challenges to artistic freedom are worsened by limitations to judicial independence in a number of African states. Courts in Africa are vulnerable to undue interferences such as threats, attacks, bribery and removal of judges by the executive arm of government.
